Bayog observes Elderly Filipino Week
To give tribute to the elderly Bayoganons this Local Government Unit celebrated the Elderly Filipino Week last October 3, 2017 at the Municipal Gymnasium with the theme: “Pagkilala sa Kakayahan, Ambag at Paglahok ng mga Nakakatanda sa Lipunan”.
It was attended by at least 1,700 seniors (pensioners and non-pensioner) from the 28 barangays of this town who were much entertained to the various contest after the program proper like Vocal Solo, Balak and Dance plus the Search for Outstanding Senior Citizens Organization 2017.
It is said that elderly Filipinos are very important member of the society that need support and protection, so that they can live a productive and happy life.
Presidential Proclamation No. 470 mandates the annual celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week to give importance to the roles of the senior citizens in helping build the nation. It also aims to address the issues concerning the older people sector.
Furthermore, Mayor Leonardo L. Babasa, Jr. in his message during the program urge the seniors to be participative in all activities of their respective barangay.
